Summer
Watering: Water start times should always be in the morning,
not evening. Watering in the evening invites insects, fungus and
other diseases to infest your landscape. Property should be watered
at least every other day. Many properties need water every day
when temperatures reach 95 degrees and above. Spray heads should
be set for 6-10 minutes. Rotors should be set for 15-25 minutes.
Fall and
Spring: Property should be watered 2-3 times a week. Spray
head and rotor times same as Summer times.
Winter
Watering: This depends on how cold it really gets. Once or
twice per week is probably enough.
Drought
Periods: Our region frequently has droughts. During drought
times watering should be increased usually to every day. If you
are already watering every day, you may have to water once in
the morning and once in the evening. This is usually not necessary,
however we have maintained properties in the past and had to water
twice daily for a few weeks.
Important:
During times of rain turn your system off, even if you have a
rain sensor. Many times the rain sensor will turn on the next
day and this usually too soon. LET YOUR PROPERTY COMPLETELY
DRY OUT BEFORE TURNING SYSTEM ON. This may take one to five
days or more. Remember ALL PROPERTIES ARE DIFFERENT. Some
have good drainage and some don't. Some properties hold water.
Trees obviously affect watering. Large trees will always win the
water battle. Once you understand how to water your property your
landscape will do much better.
